Home Remedies for Acne

Acne is a very common skin complaint that impacts nearly 85% of people during their lifetime.

Treating an acne outbreak with over-the-counter (OTC) medication can be expensive and leads to side-effects like skin irritating, redness and dryness.

An alternative to the OTC medication is the skin friendly, soothing and easy to use natural remedies that cure acne at home.

Let’s take a look at three of the common home remedies for acne:

1) Cleanse Gently

The first stage of getting rid of stubborn whiteheads, blackheads and pimple is to apply a proper cleansing routine.

There are plenty of home remedies for treating the skin. A useful option to fight viruses and bacteria that can lead to acne is apple cider vinegar.

This type of acid is very effective at suppressing inflammation and preventing scarring.

A basic cleanse is based on 3 parts water/1 part apple cider vinegar. Apply using cotton wool and leave on the skin for 10-15 seconds before washing off with clean water.

This process can be repeated twice daily (it shouldn’t be used more than this because it may cause irritation or burns, especially for sensitive skin).

2) Zinc

Studies have shown that people with low levels of zinc in their system are more likely to have acne compared to those that take the suggested amount.

A useful way to get more of this essential nutrient into the system is via supplements.

Increasing the intake of zinc can help the body in several areas, such as better immune function, metabolism, hormone production and cell growth.

An oral dosage of 30–40 mg per day is believed to promote a significant reduction in acne.

3) Healing Masks

An effective method to heal and hydrate your skin is to apply a healing mask once or twice per week. A few of the most appealing healing masks are based on ingredients like essential oils, cinnamon, honey and yogurt.

Cinnamon and honey are particularly helpful because of the high antioxidant content. Applying an antioxidant-rich mask to the skin can be more effective at controlling an outbreak of acne than retinoids and benzoyl peroxide.

Create a mask for the acne-prone skin by mixing 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and 2 tablespoons of honey.

Apply the resulting paste and leave in place for 10-15 minutes before rinsing off with warm water.Visit our site for more.
